A sodded lawn needs no special care because it is a healthy mature lawn when installed, unlike a sprigged or seeded lawn which requires years of nurturing to reach maturity.  After it has been installed, just water, mow and fertilize your lawn as needed and it will remain a healthy, green carpet of grass. You can install sod anytime during the year. There is no need to wait for the “right” season to put in your lawn. 

According to the Professional Lawn Care Association of America (PLANET) a sodded lawn will be 15 times more effective at controlling runoff than a seed established lawn, even after several years of growth.  Erosion by wind or water is nonexistent when using sod.

Sod is more than a turfgrass purchase.  You also are buying 3/8 to 1/2 inch of fertile topsoil to add to your existing landscape.

Grass, when sodded, can have an immediate and lasting impact.  Its growth cycle starts immediately, so that cleaner air and water, less glare, and better cooling can all begin practically overnight.  Sod can be established in areas where other plants will not persist – in shallow soils, in close proximity to buildings or other structures, and in areas where ultimate plant height would be restrictive.
