Holder Pest Control

What kind of habitats does a pharaoh ant prefer?

Known colloquially as sugar ants, pharaoh ants are primarily an indoor pest in Florida. These tiny ants feed on sugar and fat and love to nest in safe, hidden spaces in your home where they can pop out at a moments notice and easily access food and water. They reproduce quickly and branch off into new colonies making them very difficult to control. Just when you think you’ve won, a new colony pops up and a new battle begins!

What damage does a pharaoh ant cause?

If any ant species could be considered cute it would be the pharaoh ant. However, as cute as they maybe, pharaoh ants can pose significant risk to human health. While they don’t bite or sting, this particular species of ant is known to invade homes, restaurants, and food production facilities. In hospitals they are even known to infect IV bags or patient wounds with bacteria like Salmonella and Streptococcus which they carry on their bodies.

These pests are commonly found throughout Florida.
